DESCRIPTION: LPW - Bovet, Genève, Chinese market cylinder pendant watch with polychrome enamel rear and seed pearl borders, originally with center-seconds, 32mm, gilt metal OF original case with spectacular polychrome enamel floral detail to rear, seed pearls inset to bezel, rear perimeter, pendant and bow, Chinese characters marked inside rear, glazed observation cuvette bored with keyholes, white enamel dial with red signature, KWKS, cylinder escapement, 6J, standing barrel, gilt mvt, no visible s#. A beautiful piece with case rear enameling having vibrant color detail.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, originally with center-seconds though hand is no longer present and arbor is not apparent within visible portion, overhaul needed if restoration of center-seconds is desired, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, few fine to micro-fine scratches, central element of barrel stopworks with fine scratch striations likely from sanding; dial with some very small chips around rim of center hole, some adjacent tiny surface nicks, small micro-fine scratch left of center, some areas of subtle wispy haze in surface glaze evident in reflected light; fine hour and minute hands with some oxide to tips, center-seconds-hand is missing; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, polychrome enamel rear is fully intact with only some typical mild fine to micro-fine scratches, inset pearls are fully present with the exception of a single bezel pearl at 1, front and rear opening a bit short of 90 degrees (to approximately 85 degrees and 75 degrees respectively); bow pivots freely, push shows little wear; good front glass bull's-eye crystal with some glue excess at its seat, bored plastic observation cover with substantial glue excess at its seat.
